“Do the stars of the night that I see when I wake up only overlook my face” by François Réau

Maison Ackerman, pioneer of fine bubbles from Saumur, presents the new exhibition: “do the stars of the night that I see when I wake up only overlook my face” by François Réau.

A new cosmic work at the heart of the “Royal” Ackerman gallery:

Since April 14, 2023, visitors can discover, within the Ackerman cellars, a new monumental work by François Réau, 9th laureate of the Ackerman + Fontevraud Residence. With his unique immersive installation, the artist enhances the gallery dedicated to the aging of Crémant de Loire Royal, the emblematic vintage of Maison Ackerman. Fascinated by the spectacular cellars of the house of fine bubbles and by the spirit of the place, François Réau imagined an installation inspired by the history of this first. His work, both terrestrial and celestial, will echo the year 1811, the beginning of the family and commercial history of the Ackerman-Laurance House.

A year dear to Louis-Ferdinand, sole heir, who founded the origins of the Family House on this extraordinary year and celebrated its centenary in London in 1911. 1811: the year of distinction for the Laurance family – the beautiful family of founder Jean -Baptiste Ackerman - by the political, legal and commercial elites of Saumur. 1811: the year of the birth of
l'Aiglon, son of Napoleon Bonaparte, symbol of prosperity for the Ackerman-Laurance House. 1811: the year of the passage of the Great Comet, marked by a vintage of exceptional quality, and nicknamed "Imperial Comet" because of its bright shine and its impressive longevity.

François Réau, the genius of the space-time location:

At a younger age, he decided to pursue artistic studies, first at the School

Réau is a multidisciplinary artist combining drawing and installation, mental landscape and physical landscape, the immensely large and the invisible. A lover of nature, he draws his inspiration from it and takes the space of the landscape and its transformation processes as a source of reflection. The poetic and singular attention he pays to the world is then mixed with memories, imbued with both reality and imagination but also spirituality. The result is immersive works, between figuration and abstraction, reinventing the past through dark and dreamlike landscape universes.
