A pioneer of fine bubble wines from the Loire, Jean-Baptiste Ackerman founded the illustrious Maison in 1811 in spectacular cellars dug into the tuffeau. He initiated the production of Saumur Brut and Crémant de Loire in the region using the traditional method.

The store as well as the entire tour circuit are accessible to people with reduced mobility. The course is on one level and on stabilized ground.
It’s 12° in the cellars all year round. Don’t hesitate to bring warm clothes.
The circuit is approximately 500 meters underground, with no view of the outside, for an approximate duration of 45 minutes to 1 hour.

Throughout the year, several events punctuate the programming of Caves Ackerman: “Les Scènes Musicales”, a unique “concert and wine” pairing, every 3rd Friday of each month, from June to September, “Divin Chocolat”, the Saumur Chocolate Show for over 10 years, 1st weekend in December, "Divin Fromage" in March, "Master Chai" a special tasting moment with cellar chefs and oenologists, etc. The cellars are fully accessible
