Gourmet tables for a queen.
To mark the 900th anniversary of the birth of Eleanor of Aquitaine, the Royal Fortress of Chinon recreates the atmosphere of a 12th century royal kitchen.
In the center of the room, tables host an accumulation of utilitarian culinary ceramics: jugs, glazed pitchers, decorated bowls and other cups. A few luxurious objects bring the royal dimension, such as a terracotta gourd of Syrian origin. Fake foods bring this composition to life and allow you to imagine that the Queen of England's clerks have just left the kitchen. These are the foods that are the vectors of royal luxury: poultry, fish, very white bread, fruits, lots of spices and dried fruits and also sugar considered a very rare spice.
