You probably know the Château de Brézé for its architecture, its deep moats and its history, but do you know its famous wines?
So set off to discover the Château de Brézé vineyard and its philosophy.
Wine production at Château de Brézé dates back to the 1976th century. The grapes were then pressed in the famous room of the presses and raised in the room of the casks, in the underground passages of the Château, and this, until XNUMX!
The old troglodyte presses testify to the ancestral production of the estate's wines which were so appreciated by King René of Anjou and the great poet Joachim de Bellay who dedicated these few lines: "His Nectar seasons us, Nectar gives it to us, My sweet Breze vineyard … »
The white wines of Brézé were then the reputation of this vineyard and subsequently enjoyed the favors of the kings of the greatest European courts. Count Bernard De Colbert with his wife Charlotte De Dreux Brézé have perpetuated this family and historical tradition. His son Jean and his daughter-in-law Karine De Colbert now produce wines from the Saumur and Saumur-Champigny appellations, to the delight of lovers of good Anjou wines.
It is in this place steeped in history, in the heart of Saumur, that the Château de Brézé wine estate produces its wines.
The Château's vineyard extends over approximately 10 ha, planted with Chenin for the white wines and Cabernet Franc for the red wines. It produces Saumur Rosé, Saumur Blanc, Saumur-Champigny and Crémant de Loire. The Château's viticultural and wine-growing techniques are part of a process of sustainability and respect for the environment.
The soils are worked at a shallow depth, so as not to distort its horizons. No chemical weeding is used.
Depending on the Terroirs, the grass can be one row out of two or over the entire plot. He seeks to maintain biodiversity in their vineyard, gaining balance and plant health.
This philosophy makes it possible to obtain the best from their vines, allowing it to evolve in a balanced and healthy ecosystem.
"With good grapes, we make good wine!"
This philosophy is also found in the cellar, where he seeks to keep all the authenticity of our terroirs. It thus limits their interventions in the cellar, in order to preserve the integrity of their grapes and their wines.
