The Department of Maine-et-Loire, labeled “Land of Games 2024” and training location for several international equestrian and table tennis federations, receives the Olympic flame for one day. It will cross Maine-et-Loire in 7 stages highlighting the sporting and historical heritage of our territory.
On Tuesday, May 28, the start of the Olympic flame journey in the village of Montsoreau will be by boat. The flame will sail on the Loire over a stretch of 500 meters and will be transported by a village boatman accompanied by a flotilla decorated with traditional boats.
Once on land, meet in the picturesque streets of the town, with the riders of the Cadre Noir de Saumur for companions, then in the courtyard of the Montsoreau castle. The arrival will be musical, with Flower Power Crew on the decks for an outdoor techno-house DJ set. In the center of the courtyard, the flame bearer will arrive at a work of art from the Art & Language collective entitled A Bad Place.
