XNUMXth century country house in which François Rabelais was born. High place of the Pichrocholine War, this writer's house is dedicated to the author of Gargantua and Pantagruel.

About us

Birthplace of Rabelais, La Devinière, Maison des Champs is located 7 kilometers from Chinon. The only museum dedicated to the writer, La Devinière becomes in the novel Gargantua, the Château de Grangousier and the center of the picrocholine wars.
This evocative place retraces the life and work of François Rabelais, monk, doctor, writer, botanist, humanist and visionary spirit, who marked the 16th century.
Cellars, simple gardens and vineyards make up the natural setting of his childhood home.
