Since 1974, the artisanal soap factory Martin de Candre has perpetuated the traditional saponification of "hot mashing" at the Domaine de Mestré, in the former farm of the Abbey of Fontevraud. Get ready for an unforgettable olfactory journey!
The artisanal soap factory Martin de Candre has perpetuated a unique know-how in the field of saponification for three generations. To date, it is one of the last soap factories in France to use the “hot pasting” process which transforms the fatty substances in vegetable oils into soap. The products are made on site, in a baker's kneading machine, from high quality vegetable oils. The perfumes that embalm the soaps are the unique and original creations of the MdC soap factory. You will be amazed by the charm of the shop-exhibition where a wide variety of toiletries abounds (“Marseille” type soaps, shaving soaps, shampoos, etc.). All the solid and liquid soaps from the soap factory are natural, respectful of the environment. skin and 100% biodegradable. Each step of the know-how is revealed to you thanks to a slideshow alternating photos and videos located in the museum "When Soap Makes Its Pub". In this same place devoted to old soap advertising, a fabulous collection of posters from 1860 to 1969 is also on display.
