Located in the former stables of the Cadre Noir, this museum retraces the entire history of the French Cavalry from 1445, the date of the creation of the Compagnies d'Ordinance by Charles VII, to the present day.
On 1400 m², six centuries of French military history are evoked by numerous models, objects, uniforms, weapons, standards, pennants, etc... representative of the Cavalry and then the French Armored Arms.
Throughout the season, discover the secrets of the history of horses in France through a temporary exhibition visible until November 12. The French Horse and Riding Institute (IFCE), which today federates the Cadre Noir and the National Stud Farms, is housed in the Cavalry Museum and presents more than 300 years of French equestrian know-how, through objects and documents and more particularly on the practice of French horsemanship and traditional harnessing, horse-drawn carriages, saddlery, genetics and breeds.
The Museum also includes a documentation center with 18 books that can be consulted by appointment.
