Following the exhibition "Rembrandt in etching", the Museum of Modern Art will close its doors from Monday September 25 to Friday October 27, 2023 and will re-hang up the works from the permanent collection.
Fontevraud le musée moderne is a young museum which has already attracted more than 150 visitors since its opening in May 000.
With nearly 900 works, this “museum of France” born from the exceptional donation of Martine and Léon Cligman offers a fascinating journey through a rich collection made up of paintings, drawings, sculptures, glasswork as well as antique objects. Visitors who discover or appreciate modern and ancient art are seduced by the works in its collection, including great names in art history such as Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Edgar Degas, Maurice de Vlaminck, Albert Marquet, Kees van Dongen, Robert Delaunay, Juan Gris and André Derain. At the museum, they are also embarked on a journey of sensations which takes them to discover works of various natures which dialogue with each other, mixing eras and geographical locations.
