A story upside down fun and sensory visit of the Grande Vignolle

La Grande Vignolle invites you to experience a sensory visit! Let yourself be surprised by an innovative scenography to discover the history of the cellars dug in the XNUMXth century, up to the development of the site by a family of winegrowers.

About us

La Grande Vignolle is a unique and authentic place, in Turquant, near Saumur, which combines cellars and stately homes carved into the tufa.
Two colorful characters will tell you the story, arranging a little, it must be admitted, with reality...! Let yourself be carried away by this "upside-down" story: Surprise and smile guaranteed!

You will be guided by sounds and sensory effects to experience an amazing moment between these two worlds. It is in the heart of the rock that the great and the small history of the Grande Vignolle will be told to you with humor:
- Since its first traces, in the XNUMXth century, where caves and galleries served as a refuge, a period when the impressive cliff overlooking the Grande Vignolle was used as a precipice in wolf hunting;
- Then when men began to exploit the tufa stone, to build the castles and beautiful residences of the Loire Valley, digging galleries which became troglodyte dwellings;
- When finally, these places became a stately home, at the end of the 150th century, when the Lord of La Vignolle offered them as a dowry to his daughter. The cellars were then worked and carved to make a dwelling worthy of a castle. The set offers a magnificent facade which extends over XNUMX m in length, on the hillside;
- Until today when the Filliatreau family brought it back to life, after discovering this architectural treasure under the brambles and roots of the vines it had just acquired.
