A Sensitive Natural Space?
It is a natural site offering major landscape, geological or ecological interest and for which the department pursues a policy of preservation and enhancement.
According to criteria linked to biodiversity and their vulnerability, 89 sensitive natural areas have been identified in Maine-et-Loire.

ENS Coteaux du Layon.
This ENS is classified among Landes and dry lawns. The Layon is a river renowned above all for the wine-growing hillsides that border it.
But its valley also presents colorful landscapes and a diversity of environments of great ecological interest.
The plain in which the watercourse winds between Verchers-sur-Layon and Saint-Georges-sur-Layon is thus recognized as a sensitive natural area (ENS).

Winnowable and braidable plants.
The ENS is also home to many abundant and non-threatened plants which offer multiple possibilities for basket weaving.
Come discover them and leave with a small object that you will make along the way.
